Vladimir Putin has threatened to devastate Kyiv with his new Oreshnik missile as revenge for Ukrainian Storm Shadow strikes on Russia.
The Oreshnik is an intermediate range ballistic missile that Russia first launched at the city of Dnipro earlier this month. It has multiple warheads and is thought to be nuclear-capable.
Putin said Russia was considering hitting “decision-making centres” in Kyiv with the missile on Thursday following a massive overnight attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
He claimed that a massive strike using several Oreshniks would be “comparable to the use of nuclear weapons”.
Ukraine used British Storm Shadow missiles and American Atacms to strike targets inside Russia for the first time last week.
